Our Verdict:
Allen Cunningham is a sponsored pro of Full Tilt Poker and is one of the most successful live tournament players of recent times. He is one of only four players that have achieved offline winnings of more than $10million and is third in the all-time money list. The California native is also a WSOP machine and is currently 4th on the all time World Series money list with over $6.5million (he is the highest non-main event winner in the standings).
He can also boast 5 bracelets across three different disciplines: 7 Card Stud (’01), Deuce To Seven (’02) and Hold ‘Em (05, 06 & ’07). Such consistency has seen him voted the best all round player under 35 by his fellow professionals.
Arguably the only thing missing from his outstanding CV is a Main Event victory, the closest he has managed to date being 4th in 2006 (still good for $3,628,513). Despite this, 2005 saw him named WSOP player of the year and his Pot Limit Hold ‘Em bracelet in 2007 made him only the fourth player to have won a bracelet in three consecutive years.
Given that only Jamie Gold and Joe Hachem are ahead of him on the money list, there is an argument that Allen Cunningham has been the best tournament player of the last few years and there are not many in the poker world that would disagree.
