Our Verdict:
Brad won the first ever $1million first prize after wading his way through a 215-player field and dispatch of Don Holt heads-up. Daugherty’s KJ was a comfortable favourite in the winning hand against Holt’s 73, who proceeded to move in on a flop of 89J. Brad quickly called and that 1991 Championship was over.
One of his ambitions was always to write poker books and he achieved that by penning ‘Championship Satellite Strategy’ and ‘No Limit Texas Hold ‘Em For Begginers’.
Despite perceived negativity towards his skill in some poker circles, he continued his WSOP success and has lifetime winnings of over $1.7million with 10 final tables to his name. He even cashed in a WPT side event as recently as March 08.
