Our Verdict:
Jonas Lindlof aka "Telefonkiosk" is what you might call a no-frills poker player. He retains a low profile, shying away from lucrative sponsorship deals or the world of offline glamour. You'll find little information out there about what he does away from the table or where he learned the game. There isn't even a picture of the secretive Swede (hence the picture we are using of, well, a Telefonkiosk).
Instead, what you'll discover is a long trail of evidence that proves Telefonkiosk knows how to win chips - in vast quantities. Make no mistake - he's one of the shrewdest online players in the world.
Instead of hogging the limelight Telefonkiosk prefers to steadily rack up winnings on his preferred sites. On PokerStars, he has taken down over $155k since the start of 2006 - an impressive total by anybody's standard. Throw in another $23k won on PartyPoker and you'll see he's making a comfortable living from the game.
Telefonkiosk is not exactly what you would call a small-time player - his average buy-in is $191 - but he's certainly not the kind of boom-and-bust player that wins a big prize every couple of months and draws blanks thereafter, either.
He takes the "small but often" route to poker riches - his biggest win of 2006 on PokerStars was the relatively small prize of $21,467 for coming second (out of 801 runners) in a $200 buy-in, but he has cashed no fewer than 87 times and made 32 final tables to ensure a high overall tally of winnings. Now that's the kind of consistency we'd all like to aim for.
In one of his few recorded ventures into the world of offline poker, Telefonkiosk showed he has the nerve and ability to mix with the pros and best amateur players. He finished 497th at the 2005 WSOP (well inside the top 10%) to claim $14,135 prize money.
In May 2008 he belied his small, consistent cashing by winnin big - the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up big, outlasting over 3,000 runners to scoop the first prize of $105,541.
Where next for him? Probably more of the same - which means regular online winnings while keeping a low profile - unless one of the big sites offers him a sponsorship deal. Oh, and if anyone knows why he's called Telefonkiosk - give us a call. We'd love to know.
