Our Verdict:
To work your way through several thousand players in the PokerStars Sunday Million is an astonishing achievement. To do it twice in five weeks? Unthinkable! But that is what a Swedish player called Azad Pirooti has done.
In mid-January (under previous name SwedisRotKuk) Pirooti won the PokerStars Sunday Million, cutting through a field of 7,632 runners to claim a first prize of $187k. In February as ZIGENAAREN he took down the Sunday Million again, this time winning $257k (being the last Sunday of the month it was a $500 buy-in event), after seeing off 2,800 other players.
As you might have guessed from his original name on PokerStars, ZIGENAAREN is yet another Swede to come off the seemingly non-stop conveyor belt of talent. He lives in Linköping (as does another famous player "Fast_Freddie") and is reported to have earned more than $700k online in the past 18 months.
Pirooti has only played in one big live tournament - the Baden leg of the European Poker Tour in October 2006 in which he finished 26th. He made a big impression with his hyper-aggressive style and was unlucky not to finish deeper than he did. On every table he played on a giant Buddha card protector would accompany him.
Pirooti first enjoyed big wins playing on Ladbrokes under the name __Dolly__. In an eight month period he is said to have won the nightly $100 rebuy tournament 14 times as well as several other high stakes MTTs. A fellow player, when asked who his most feared opponents were on the site, said: "It has to be __Dolly__. This guy is absolutely fearless. Watch him on a Sunday night in the $70k - it is a rollercoaster ride."
The rollercoaster is rolling all the way to the bank for ZIGENAAREN.
